    內容簡介:
    STRONG POINTS:
In a time when operas are often set to different contexts from the ones they were intended for, a philological production has its merits, representing both a rediscovery and a provocation.

This Barbiere di Siviglia, which at first sight might appear old-fashioned, restores, in fact, to perfection the setting of an early 19th-centrury Italian theatre. It was a time when the glorious tradition of popular comedy, a direct descendant of the 16th-century ”commedia dell’arte”, was very much alive, and the singers entertained the audience with humour that was direct and catchy.

Bepi Morassi’s direction witnesses to the importance of that heritage, based on the improvising skills of actors that came from the common people and needed to communicate concepts of common social life, through colourful costumes, musical instruments and masks modelled on the archetypes of the day.

Humour, which here triumphs, makes of this Barbiere di Siviglia, a truly entertaining visual and audio experience.

    Extras
Interviews to Bepi Morassi, Fortunato Ortombina Artistic director, Antonino Fogliani, Rinat Shaham, Roberto Frontali, Francesco Meli.

    BIOGRAPHYS:
    Gioachino Rossini
Gioacchino Rossini’s operatic successes were lightning fast. In spring 1815 Rossini is called to Naples by the impresario Barbaja promising him a very satisfactory contract for two new operas a year and the music direction of the San Carlo and Fondo theatres. At this time Naples boasted a glorious musical tradition and an operatic school that was famous the world over, of which the city was rightly proud. His contract with Barbaja did not exclude the possibility of staging different operas in other theatres, for instance Rome where he staged for the first time Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

    Antonino Fogliani (Messina 1976)
Thanks to his great talent, imposes himself on the international scene as one of most appreciated Italian conductor of his generation.

After graduating in piano at the ”Giovan Battista Martini” Conservatory in Bologna, he took his degree in conducting at the ”Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Milan.

His veritable success came in 2001, when he gained outstanding approvals both from the critic and the press at the Rossini Opera Festival di Pesaro. From then on he has led acclaimed performances at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, Opera Comique de Paris, Opera de Liege, Rossini in Wildbad and at the Wexford Festival.

    Bepi Morassi
Morassi was born in Venice. First he studied with Giovanni Poli and then continued his studies on drama and music with prestigious leading personalities. He made his debut in 1978.

He is involved in several Italian theatres and works also in Paris, Lyon, Montreal, Sydney and Pretoria participating to prestigious festivals.

He is particularly interested in Baroque operas.

Being scholar of Commedia dell’Arte and Renaissance art he is undertaking an intense activity of teaching and publishing. Currently he is production director at La Fenice di Venezia.
